عبد الله بن بري بن عبد الجبار المقدسي الأصل المصري، أبو محمد، ابن أبي الوحش
من علماء العربية النابهين. ولد ونشأ وتوفي بمصر. وولي رياسة الديوان المصري.
له:
• «الرد على ابن الخشاب - ط» انتصر فيه للحريري
• «غلط الضعفاء من الفقهاء - ط»
• «شرح شواهد الإيضاح - خ» نحو
• «حواش على صحاح الجوهري - خ»
• «حواش على درة الغواص للحريري» (1)

قرأت "جواب المسائل العشر" في المخطوطة اليتيمة التي انتهت إلينا منه ونسخت نصها وعارضت ما نسخت بأصله. وقصدت أول ما قصدت في عملي فيه إلى ضبط النص وتحريره من شوائب السقط والتصحيف والتحريف والتغيير. فأصلحت ما وقع في المخطوطة من ذلك وذكرت في التعليق ما كان في الأصل إن عرفت صوابه وما لم أعرف وجهه أثبته كما جاء في الأصل ونبهت عليه. وعارضت النص برواية الإمام السخاوي له في كتابه سفر السعادة ولم أذكر في التعليق إلا ما كان ذا أثر في ضبط النص وإصلاح ما وقع فيه. وزدت في مواضع قليلة من النص ما رأيت أنه لا يقوم إلا به.وعنيت بما اشتمل عليه الكتاب من مسائل العربية فذكرت في التعليق عليها أهم مصادر الكلام عليها وذكرت مذاهب أهل العربية إن اختلفت مذاهبهم في المسألة. وخرجت مقالات العلماء التي حكاها المؤلف أو ألم بها من كتب أصحابها أو من مظانها. وخرجت شواهد الكتاب من الآيات الكريمة والحديث الشريف والأثر والأمثال والأشعار والأرجاز. وصنعت للكتاب الفهارس التي تيسر السبيل إليه.
