يضم الكتاب طائفة الواردة في مجال الألطاف الإلهية التي شملت أمير المؤمنين عليّ رضي الله عنه. ولما كانت هذه الروايات على عظيم أهميتها وقيمتها ومساهمتها في بيان الألطاف الإلهية، إلا أنها انطوت على شيء يسير من الاختلاف في تفاصيلها مع الفهم الشيعي المستند إلى الروايات الواردة عن اللائحة المعصومين، لذا فقد سعى المؤلف في التعليق على هذه الموارد. وقد قام بتبويب الروايات الواردة في هذا الكتاب حسب انتمائها زمنياً إلى مرحلة معينة من حياة أمير المؤمنين رضي الله عنه مورداً تمهيداً في أربعة فصول، تحدث أولها عن المراد بتعبير "خير البرية" استناداً إلى الروايات، ونقل ثانيها أقوال طائفة من علماء السنة في شأن منزلة أمير المؤمنين رضي الله عنه وسبقه في الميادين المختلفة، وضم ثالثها عدداً من الروايات التي تلقي ضوءاً على مقام الشامخ الذي تربع في قمته أمير المؤمنين والمنزلة الحضيضة التي كانت له من رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم والشأن الخاص له رضي الله عنه الذي أهّله لكل هذه الألطاف الإلهية الفريدة المتواصلة،وتحدث الفصل الرابع عن شبهه رضي الله عنه بالأنبياء عليهم السلام.
ومورداً خاتمة الكتاب في خمسة فصول نتحدث عن ضرورة متابعة أمير المؤمنين رضي الله عنه في الفتنة, وضحت تلك الفصول الروايات التي تتحدث عن توصية النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بمتابعة علي رضي الله عنه وتأكيده صلى الله عليه وسلم لأمته أن مودة علي رضي الله عنه ومتابعته والبراءة من أعدائه تكفل لصاحبها خير الدنيا والآخرة، وأن عليّاً رضي الله عنه أعلم أمته، وهاديها إلى الحق وأنه وحي النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وأن رسول الله أوصى إليه مناسبات شتى، وأنه رضي الله عنه كان على الحق وأن أعداءه كانت على الباطل، وأنه سار على السنة المحمدية البيضاء وقاتل عليها.
