يجب أن تكون الغاية من دروس الدين أمرين: أن يستشعر الطالب أو الطالبة حب الدين لأنه يؤمن به من أعماق نفسه، أن يستشف من خلال تعاليمه وإرشاداته مبلغ عنايته بمصالح البشر ومحافظته عليها.
للوصول إلى الهدفين السابقين يجدر بالمعلمين والمعلمات تلمس حكم التشريع في الأحكام الدينية دائماً وبقدر المستطاع، لأن إيراد الحكم جافاً بدون حكمة مشروعيته لا يجعل عند الطالب والطالبة الإقبال الكافي عليه، فضلاً عما يعروهما من ملل وسآمة وضيق.
لا مانع من التوسع في بعض المواطن التي يرى فيها المعلم ضرورة لذلك، على شريطة عدم التورط في التفصيلات التي لا داعي لها، ومع الإحتفاظ بنشاط الصغار وإقبالهم وقوة إنتباههم.
