وهذا الكتاب الذي بين يدينا جاء ليغطي أعمال مجموعة من الحرف المهنية وهو يقدم للناشئ دراسة ملخصة عن كل حرفة يعرض لها هذا إلى جانب عرضه لمجموعة من التمارين التطبيقية التي تعنى بتوضيح نطاق عمل كل حرفة وكيفية تعلمها والأدوات المستخدمة فيها هذا إلى جانب شرحه لبعض الأسس والمبادئ الهامة التي تدور حول كيفية استخدام المكائن والآلات والمعدات في كل حرفة بشكل سليم وآمن يضمن التقليل من خطر الحوادث التي يمكن للناشئ أن يتعرض لها أثناء مزاولته لهذه الحرضة.
وبالرجوع لمضمون هذا الكتاب نجد أنه قد احتوى على العديد من الإرشادات الصحية التي تعلم الناشئ كيفية مساعدة الآخرين إذا ما تعرضوا للدغة أو لسعة من إحدى الحشرات، كما تعلمه كيفية مساعدة ولد مصاب بالرعاف أو سيلان الدم من الأنف هذا إلى جانب شرحة لبعض المخاطر التي قد يتعرض لها الناشئ من خلال مزاولته لهواية استخدام الدراجة الهوائية. ومن جانب آخر تغطي فصول هذا الكتاب كيفية تنفيذ بعض الحرف المهنية السهلة والنشاطات المنزلية التي يمكن له تنفيذها بنفسه كعمل مصباح للاسعمال الشخصي، صنع هيكل سيارة بالأسلاك المعدنية، إنتاج أسياخ الشواء، إعداد بعض الأشربة والمواد الغذائية، عمل الأقنعة من صحون كرتون...
