يتحدث هذا الكتاب عن قبائل عرب الهولة، وهم عرب الساحل الشرقي للخليج العربي، وأصلهم من الجزيرة العربية، وهي قبائل عربية هاجرت من الجزيرة العربية إلى السواحل الشرقية للخليج وصولاً حتى العمق الفارسي بهدف نشر الدين الإسلامي الحنيف. لذلك كله، يأتي هذا الكتاب عبارة عن توثيق للمصادر التاريخية ورصد للروايات الشفهية والوثائق الأرشيفية المتعلقة بتاريخ تلك المنطقة، وتراثها المجيد وماضيها المشرق. وقد تم تناوله في أربعة فصول رئيسة وهي:
الفصل الأول والثاني: عبارة عن استعراض لأهم نصوص الرحلات، والتقارير الرسمية، التي رصدت حياة القبائل العربية في السواحل الفارسية، مرتبة وفقاً للتسلسل الزمني لمختلف فترات التاريخ. أما الفصل الثالث فهو عبارة عن مجموعة أخرى من المشاهدات التاريخية والتقارير الرسمية المختصة بذكر أنساب القبائل العربية في بر فارس، ومكان وتاريخ هجرتها من الجزيرة العربية وما إلى ذلك من معلومات أخرى تهم الباحث في هذا الموضوع. ويأتي الفصل الرابع بمثابة مجموعة من البحوث ذات الصلة بتاريخ بداية تشكل الحلف الهولي في منطقة الخليج العربي بظهور الشيخ كايد بن عدوان ونموذج لتاريخ الحملات البريطانية ضد عرب الهولة في منطقة الخليج العربي وقصة إبدال عَلَمْ القواسم "الأحمر" بعَلَمْ معاهدة السلم الدائم "الأحمر والأبيض" الذي عُمم على العرب المتصالحين بواسطة الحكومة البريطانية بعد تدمير الأسطول الحربي للقواسم الزعماء التقليديين لتحالف قبائل عرب الهولة، إضافة إلى مجموعة أخرى من الوثائق الملحقة.
تأتي أهمية هذا الكتاب من كونه يعد مصدراً بالغ الأهمية لكل إنسان لديه اهتمام بتاريخ القبائل العربية في السواحل الفارسية، فهو مادة أصيلة، صادرة عن مشاهدات حيّة قام بها المستشرقون الأجانب الذين عاصروا تلك الأحداث وكتبوا عنها، بعيداً عن التكهنات، والخيالات.
