لقد ترك العلماء الأبرار تراثاً علمياً أضحى مفخرة لهذه الأمة، ولا زلنا نعيش ونحيا على هذه الكنوز المليئة بالدرر اليتيمة، والتي غدت جنّةً وارفة الظلال، شهية الثمر، خصيبة الجوانب.
ولا ريب أن علم النحو هو دعامة هذا التراث، فهو وسيلة المستعرب، وسلاح اللّغوي، وعماد البلاغي وأداة المجتهد، والمدخل إلى العلوم العربية والإسلامية، وقد بذل علماء النحو جهداً كبيراً في جمع النحو ودراسته، وأخلصوا لهذا العلم أيما إخلاص، بل كان فهم القرآن الكريم عاملاً هاماً حفز أولئك النحاة إلى التعمق في البحث، ليكون النحو حقيقاً بإستنطاق التركيب القرآني، وتعيين دلالته.
ومع ذلك فدراسة الجمل عند هؤلاء العلماء، لم تنل حظاً وافراً من الدراسة والبحث، ولم يوجد كتاباً يختص بدراسة الجمل ككلّ، والجملة المعترضة على وجه الخصوص، سوى بعض تعريفات والإشارات التي جاءت مبعثرة في متون الكب وصفحات الحواشي فيما بعد.
لذلك جاء هذا الكتاب ليدرس الجملة المعترضة في القرآن الكريم مبيناً مواضعها ودلالاتها، وقد استعان المؤلف بالأصول من المصادر النحوية، والبلاغية، وكتب التفسير وإعراب القرآن الكريم ومعانيه، بالإضافة إلى بعض كتابات المحدثين، الذين لمسوا جوانب هذا الموضوع - في إنجاز هذا البحث.
كما وقف على معظم الآراء المختلفة في كتب النحو، والبلاغة، والتفسير، وكتب إعراب القرآن الكريم، وأثبت ما كان أصوب منها وأرجح، بالإضافة إلى ذلك وضح معاني بعض المفردات الغريبة، والمصطلحات العلمية، التي وردت في البحث، بما يزيل غموضها ويكشف عن المراد منها؛ ثم عزا الآيات الكريمة، فبين أرقامها وعين سورها، كما خرَّج الأحاديث الشريفة من مصادرها، ونسب الأبيات الشعرية إلى قائليها ومصادرها.
وأخيراً، ذيَّل المؤلف البحث بخاتمة، وفهارس مفصلة للآيات والموضوعات، وثبتٍ للمصادر والمراجع، ثم قام بعمل تلخيص للرسالة باللغة الإنجليزية.
