"مولاي جلال الدين جسدي في "تبريز" وروحي هائمة في بحر الروم، شمسك أخفتها عني كتب اللاهوت، ها أنذا أرقص وحدي، ناي الريح يئن جريحاً ولساني مقطوع، بدمي أسبح لكني ومريدوك حضور. أخفي وجعي القاتل في "تبريز" فبماذا أداوي قلبي المجنون. لعالم معنى في اللامعنى والفكر مرايا وجهك فيها مطبوع. أجسادٌ ونيازك تسقط من أعلى ذهب مصهور.جمجمة باضت في داخلها أفعى رأس امرأة يظهر من بين الأجساد يُتَوِّجه النور. أمذنب "هالي" هذا أم وجه مسيح مصلوب؟ بدمي أسبح مذ جئت لهذي الدنيا فلماذا أخفت شمسك عني كتب اللاهوت؟ عشقي عدمٌ ووجود، وغيابي مولاي، حضور الناي المسحور يئن جريحاً وأنا ارقص مذبوحاً في الريح".
في شعره ثقافة، فكر، فلسفة وألحان. فعبد الوهاب البياتي عندما ينظم قصائده، يكون وكأنه فتح كتب التاريخ والجغرافيا، وذهب بعيداً في عالم الأساطير، وران بنظره إلى عالمه، ساكباً ذاك كله في قالب موسيقي مفاتيحه الموسيقية كلمات وعبارات تستأنس بها النفس، ويرنو إليها الفكر، ويقف عند عتباتها العقل متأملاً بذاك الإبداع الإنساني الذي لا يقف عند الإبداع النظمي؛ بل هو يتخطاه إلى إبداع ذاك الإنسان بكل ما لديه من طاقات أدبية وفكرية وإنسانية راقية.
