الفكاهة هي نزهة النفس وربيع القلب وموقع السمع ومعدن السرور , وقد قاال النبي محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم : فروحوا القلوب ساعة بعد ساعة فإن القلوب إذا كلت عميت ؟؟ وقيل إن الضحك هو وسيلة طيبة للتخلص من حالةالتوتر التي يجد المرء نفسه يعيش فيها لاسباب خارجة عن ارادته او لاسباب من صنعه هو في أحيان أخرى , فالضحك أعظم دواء في رأي عدد كبير من العلماء النفس. وقال الفيلسوف الصيني (لن بوتانج) : الضحك يصفي النفوس من كدرها ومن الخير ان لاينسى المرء ما لروح الفكاهة من خطر الشأن , فاءنها كفيلة بأن تهذب حياة الناس واخلاقهم , واذا أوتي الناسنصيبأ من روح الفكاهة اوتوا رشاد العقل وبساطة التفكير , ورقة الطباع , وحسن التبصر بشؤون دنياهم وقد جمع المربي الفاضل الاستاذ لطفي عثمان في كتابة هذا الفكاهة عند العرب، العديد من النوادر الطريفة التي اختارها بحسه المرح وروحه التهكمية الساخرة، ليحقق هذا الكتاب الفائدة من جهة و الامتاع والتسلية من جهة اخرى، اضافة الى التعريف بشىء من طرائف الادب العربي.
