دراسة تمتاز بالاستقصاء والاستيعاب لموضوع المعرب والدخيل في اللغة العربية تم استخراجها بعد استقراء متأن للمادة اللغوية من المعاجم العربية القديمة والحديثة، ويعتمد إشارات الأئمة الثقات إلى كون الكلمة دخيلة، أو معربة، أو أعجمية. ومنهج الكتاب يسير وفق النقاط التالية: ذكر ما يدور في فلك معنى اللفظ في المعجم وذكر الإشارة إلى كون اللفظ أعجمياً أو دخيلاً إن وجدت هذه الإشارة. ذكر آراء العلماء في هذا اللفظ من كتاب المعرب وشفاء الغليل ومعجم المعربات الفارسية والقاموس المحيط وغيرها. ذكر رأي المعجم الوسيط في اللفظ, وهو ما أقره عربياً أو رفضه, ذكر اللفظ في العربية وما يقابله في اللغة الأجنبية, ذكر ما يحضرني من تعليق حول اللفظ ومدى تطوره الدلالي إن وجد.
