يسعى المؤلف في هذا الكتاب إلى الرّد على بعض ما كتب ونشر أبو الهدى الصيّادي (ت 1328هـ) في التاريخ والتراجم والكسب، حيث يرى المؤلف أن الصيّادي قد صنع كتب في التاريخ والتراجم ليرقى بطريقته إلى سيادة الطرق، ثم ترقى به هو إلى السيادة التي ينشدها، ثم إنه لما اطّلع الناس على ما كتب أهل البلاد المجاورة في أنساب القبائل والعشائر؛ كان مما وجدوا فيها أشياءُ منقولةٌ من كتب الصيادي تخالف ما عهدوا.
لذلك، سعى المؤلف إلى إثبات أن الصيادي قد اختلق على التاريخ كتباً ورجالاً حمّلها وحمّلهم ما يريد إثباته، ثم سعى إلى بيان شيء من أثر ما كتب الرجل وما اختلف في الكتب المعاصرة.
