يمتلئ العالم اليوم بالمتناقضات الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والسياسية، وهذه في ازدياد مستمر مع كون أن المجتمع الدولي يتكلم باستمرار عن العمل للحدّ منها، وقد أصبحت هذه المتناقضات تجر على العالم مشاكل وويلات كبيرة منها الحروب ومنها الفقر والحرمان ومنها الظلم والاستضعاف. وحيث يتمتع ربع العالم بالحرية والعيش الرغيد؛ يبقى أكثر من ثلاثة أرباع العالم في فقر ومرض وحرمان وظلم. والمؤسف هو أن الغنى الفاحش للبعض أصبح ظاهرة في الدول الإسلامية، ولم يقتصر على الدول الرأسمالية، وإذا كان الإسلام أصلاً مبنياً على العدالة في شتى جوانب الحياة؛ فكيف إذا اختلّ التوازن وأصبح مجموعة من الأفراد يملكون ما لا يملكه غيرهم حتى ولو بنسبة قليلة جداً. وإذا كان المسلمون لا يستطيعون أن يساووا بين شعوبهم فكيف السبيل إلى أن يساووا بينهم وبين الشعوب الأخرى؟ إن المذهب الاقتصادي الإسلامي يدعو إلى المساواة والتوزيع العادل للثروة ويقوم على أساس المشاركة في الموارد ويمنع الاحتكار والاستغلال، كما أنه يحرم التبذير وإهدار الثروات حتى وإن كثرت في بلد ما حيث أن ما هو موجود في مكان على الأرض هو من نعم الخالق على الناس أجمعين، وليس لأفراد معينين وفي بلد معين. الاقتصاد العادل هو أساس الاستقرار الاجتماعي والسياسي والقاعدة الواسعة للاستثمار المطمئن والتخطيط البعيد المدى. وبدون هذه الأساسيات لا يمكن أن تتطور الشعوب ولا أن يقوم العمران حتى وإن كانت مصادر الثروة موجودة على أكبر أشكالها. وفي هذا الكتاب يقدم المؤلف أساسيات في الاقتصاد الإسلامي الذي هو علم ومذهب وبحر واسع على الاقتصاديين من مسلمين وغير مسلمين البحث فيه، وذلك عما فيه من حلول لمشاكل العصر المتنوعة التي أصبحت من التعقيد بحيث لا يمكن أن تحلّ بما هو مطروح من نظريات مادية مختلفة فقط، بل يجب أن تدخل العوامل الإنسانية والروحية في كل جوانبها حتى تسود العدالة وتتوزع الثروات بما يصلح حال الأمم في الوقت الحاضر والمستقبل.
