عندما كنت أراها أشعر بطمأنينة تتراقص طرباً في أعماقي، ويوم كانت تقُصُّ علينا حكاياتها كنا نغفو بين يديها كالملائكة وهي ملاكنا الحارس. كانت الأرواح تُحلِّق في سماء البلدة تحميها حين تخرج صباحاً من بيتها الريفي الأليف لتزورنا رغم ألمها، وتغمرنا بطهر قلبها، فتنحني أرق المشاعر أمام نبض صوتها الحنون.
قبل رحيل جدتي لم أكن أعرف حرارة الدمع، فصارت هي دمعتي التي انهمرت بغزارة شديدة لتروي عطش الأرض في صيف تموز.
ابني العزيز؛ أحببتك أكثر من نفسي،
كانت أسعد لحظات حياتي هي اللحظات التي أدخل فيها غرفتك وأنت صغير، وأكون عائداً من عملي حاملاً لعبة القطار التي تُحبها، أو الحلويات التي تفضّلها.
كانت أسعد لحظاتي عندما علّمتك السباحة، وعندما أخذتك معي إلى عملي وكنت تقوم بتمزيق أوارقي الخاصة وأبتسم لك.
كانت أسعد لحظات حياتي عندما أُعطيك كل ما في جيبي لتشتري به الملابس التي تُريدها وأنا أتنقل من مكان إلى آخر بحذائي الممزق.
أنا الآن لا أُعيّرك؛ بل أكتب لك ودموعي تتساقط مني حزناً على نفسي.
لم أكن أتوقع أن نهايتي لم تكن في حضنك وأنت من تقوم بتكفيني.
