هو كيفية شعراء العراق يجيد لغة الألم. وهو هنا يوشك أن يرسم لوحة خرافية لأوجاعه التي شكلت سمة تشترك فيها قصائد المجموعة. والشاعر إذ ينبش ذاكرته فلكي يعثر على بقايا طفولة أو حياة أحالتها المعاناة الطويلة إلى ركام يرزح تحت وطأة النسيان. لكن المواجع وهي تستفيق تنهال على لياليه محيلة الحلم إلى واقع مفجع وعلى مرمى النظر تمتد الصحراء إلى الداخل كما إلى الخارج لتظفي على أعماقه تلك العنوتة الباردة على النفس حينئذٍ فقط يرتد الشاعر على أعماقه وهو يمسك بالخواء: أطبقنا الأيدي/وفتحنا الأيدي/ ما من شيء في الأيدي/ قادتنا الريح/ إلى الريح.
هنا لا بد من إشارة إلى أن القصائد تحتشد بالإشارات والمفردات التي يعرفها من خبر الأماكن والعبارات التي يشير إليها الشاعر وهي تعكس خصوصية ما. من جانب "الحي" لنا "طارشٌ"/ وفي خطى غطرفة "الغراف" ما يشملُ، لقد اختط الشاعر لنفسه منحى تأكد عبر تاريخه الشعري الطويل. لم يعد يجدي النظر قصائد تعزف سيمفونية الوجع والانتظار.
