كتاب "فرائد السمطين في فضائل المرتضى والبتول والسبطين والأئمة من ذريتهم" لمؤلفه "إبراهيم .. الجويني الخراساني" يدور في فلك أهل بيت النبوة عليهم السلام وهم، علي، وفاطمة، والحسن، والحسين.
يؤكد الكتاب على مكانة أهل بيت النبوة في قلوب المسلمين جميعاً على اختلاف أممهم وأجناسهم ومذاهبهم ولغاتهم، وذلك بفضل ما خصهم الله به من صفات خلقية، ومآثر سلوكية، لا لقرابتهم من رسول الله (ص) فحسب، بل لأنهم حافظا على التمسك بآداب النبي (ص) وأخلاقه، واقتدوا به في منهجه وسلوكه ونفذوا سنته تنفيذاً عملياً، فرأى فيهم المسلمون الصورة المثالية للأخلاق الفاضلة والخصال الحميدة، وكانوا جديرين بالحديث النبوي الشريف الذي يرويه مسلم في الصحيح والذي يشير فيه، إلى ما بين أهل بيت النبوة، وبين المحافظة على كتاب الله تعالى من صلة، وثيقة، ووشيجة متينة. يقول رسول الله (ص) " .. تركت فيكم ما أن تمسكتم به فلن تضلوا: كتاب الله وعترتي أهل بيتي".
وعلى هذا يجمع الكتاب بين دفتيه درر القول من أحاديث نبوية وآيات قرآنية، أراد الكاتب أن يضعها بين يدي القارىء المسلم، لتكون له عوناً، وخير منهج لمن يريد أن يقتفي أثر أهل البيت عليهم السلام. وقد عمل على تحقيق هذا السفر الدكتور عبد المحسن عبد الله السراوي والشيخ محمد صادق تاج بالإستناد إلى أكثر من مخطوطة في دمشق، ومصر، ولبنان ومراجعة ما رواه الجويني عن الحاكم في المستدرك والخطيب البغدادي في تاريخ بغداد، وأحمد بن حنبل في كتابيه المسند والفضائل، وكتب أخرى من كتب الحديث، والتراجم، والتاريخ، والسيرة.
