"قطتان في صندوق" مجموعة قصصية حديدة للدكتور إياد ناجي، تضم أربعة قصص قصيرة تحيل إلى عوالم مختلفة محورها المجتمع السوري وشؤونه وشحونه، قدم فيها المؤلف – كما يبدو في النص – أكثر من رسالة فكرية وعالج أكثر من قضية اجتماعية على مستوى الداخل، مما يجعل كتابته خليطاً من أنماط للحياة والعيش على المستوى العام والخاص جاءت مغلفة بقالب سردي يسهم في تظهير كل حكاية والحالة الاجتماعية لكل شخصية، والكاتب بعمله هذا يعبّر عن تمكن واضح في مقاربة مجتمع آخر في التحول منذ سبعينات القرن المنصرم وإلى اليوم.
في القصة المعنونة "قطتان في صندوق" وهي كنا يشير الكاتب "مستوحاة من قصة واقعية حقيقية" يعالج إياد ناجي الموضوعة الطبقية في سورية هي المحور الذي تدور حوله أحداث القصة، وذلك عبر مجموعة من الشخصيات التي تنتمي إلى عالمين مختلفين ويتمظهر ذلك بصيغ مختلفة، الطرف الأول فيها مدام نازك التي تنحدر من عائلة بنجكدار وإبنها يزن، والطرف الآخر على النقيض الفتاة "هناء" التي تنتمي إلى عائلة بسيطة ولا تتقن شيئاً من الإتيكيت واللياقة الاجتماعية، تتعرف "هناء" إلى "يزن" في الجامعة، وتنشأ بينهما قصة حب، يحاول يزن إقناع أمه بالارتباط بهناء لكنها ترفض، ثم توافق على مضض على شرك أن يسكنوا معها في القصر، تتوالى الأحداث في القصة لتصور لنا الصراع بين الغني والفقير عبر مشاهد روائية، الطرفان فيها بين مدّ وجزر، تنتهي الرواية بزواج "هناء" من "يزن" ووفاته بعد عامين، ودخول "هناء" القصر منتصرة..
يضم الكتاب أربعة قصص هي: 1- التقدمي. 2- قطتان في صندوق. 3- قنبلة موقوتة. 4- الغشاء.
