يحاول هذا الكتاب بتواضع أن يضع بين يدي متعلمي اللغة الإنكليزية مرجعاً معتمداً للألفاظ والعبارات العامية الدارجة في اللهجة الأمريكية. مع الانتشار غير المسبوق والحثيث لآلة الإعلام الأمريكي بما تمثله من برامج وأفلام ومسلسلات يجد العالم بشكل عام والعالم العربي بشكل خاص نفسه يتعامل يومياً مع اللهجة الأمريكية مما دفعنا إلى إيجاد مثل هذه النوعية من المراجع لتكون عوناً كل متعلم وراغب في إتقان تلك اللهجة وفهمها. ومما زاد من شعبيتها وانتشارها الدور السياسي الذي تلعبه أميركا على الساحة العالمية حالياً والساحة العربية بشكل خاص مما أدى إلى زيادة الاهتمام بتلك اللهجة. ولا يخفى على أي طالب لعلم اللغة الإنكليزية بأن اللغة الأكاديمية تختلف اختلافاً كلياً عن لغة الشارع المتداولة بحيث تحتاج الأخيرة إلى وقت لا بأس به للتأقلم معها ولتعلم عباراتها وألفاظها وعلى هذا الأساس نحاول في هذا الكتاب تقديم لغة الشارع الدارجة الأمريكية لاختصار الوقت على كل متعلم وليجد بين يديه مرجعاً يعينه على التأقلم مع تلك الهجة. يقدم الكتاب طائفة واسعة من العبارات مبوبة بشكل سلس يمكن المستخدم من الوصول إلى ما يريده بسهولة. بالإضافة إلى تبويبها تبويباً هجائياً أيضاً لخدمة المتعلم. نتمنى لهذه المحاولة المتواضعة أن تؤتي ثمارها لتكون مرجعاً معتمداً لكل من يريد تعلم واستخدام وإتقان اللهجة الأمريكية.
