يقدّم كتاب «الكتابة بالرسم» طريقة تواصلية لتعليم مهارات الكتابة والقراءة للأطفال آخذًا في الاعتبار الفوارق الفردية بينهم. يناقش الأطفال شفويًّا الموضوع الذي سيرسمونه ويكتبونه ويكتبون عمّا رسموه. يحتوي هذا الكتاب على 26 موضوعًا محبّبًا للأطفال. يكتب الأطفال ويرسمون هذه المواضيع ويأخذونها إلى البيت لقراءتها لعائلاتهم. فالأطفال يتعلّمون عندما يقرأون ويكتبون ويتكلمون ويستمعون. كما أنهم يتعلّمون من كلمات التشجيع والتحفيز من الآخرين.
يغرس الكتاب حب التعلّم لدى الأطفال والفخر بما ينتجونه من الرسومات والكتابات البسيطة جدًّا في البداية ثم الأكثر تعقيدًا لاحقًا. وهكذا يكتسب الطفل إحساسًا بقدراته وثقة بنفسه تشجعه على الإكثار من القراءة والكتابة وبخاصة ما يكتبه هو بنفسه.
يشكّل هذا الكتاب أداة رائعة في يد معلمة الأطفال المبتدئين، يعلّم الأطفال ويبهجهم ويجعلهم فخورين بتعلّمهم.
