الجلد هو هذه العباءة الحية التي تلفُّ الجسد بكامله فلا يظهر منه إلا العينان. إنه بهذا المعنى يحمي الجسد من الطوارئ الخارجية (فهو سياج وسور) ويعكس الحالة الصحية للجسد المختبئ في داخله (فهو مرآة. وبالتالي فإن صحة الجلد وجمال بشرته متلازمان وهما بدورهما مرتبطان بالصحة العامة للجسم التي يؤمنها التوازن في العناصر الغذائية الأساسية والفيتامينات. إن اختلال هذه العناصر، زيادة أو نقصاناً، ينعكس على الجلد ظواهر مرضية أو إزعاجات مختلفة. هذا بالإضافة إلى العوامل النفسية والوراثية والإصابات الجرثومية أو الفيروسية. يتطرق هذا الدليل إلى مختلف الأعراض التي تصيب الجلد: من جفاف، وتقشُّر، وتبقُّع، وتجعُّد، وتورُّم، وفقدان الليونة، وضعف الإحساس، وتقرّحات والتهابات وحبيبات... وهو يتناول هذه الأعراض بحسب أسبابها ومصادرها: نقص الفيتامينات (إحمرار، جفاف، تقشُّر...)؛ تأثير الحساسية (طفح جلدي، أكزما...)؛ العوامل النفسية (ثعلبة، صدفية..)؛ التقلبات الجوية (التوزيم، التعرق، الحروق..)، الأمراض الفيروسية أو الفطرية أو الميكروبية (التآليل، تشقق كعب القدم، الجرب...)؛ التأثيرات الوراثية (التقرحات، داء السمك، مسمار القدم...)؛ اضطراب جهاز المناعة (التيبس الجلدي، داء الفقاع..)...
كل ذلك يطرحه ليصل في النهاية إلى الغاية الأساسية من وضعه وهي معالجة كل حالة بواسطة الأعشاب والنباتات المتوافرة بكثرة والتي يمكن الحصول عليها بسهولة. إذاً ما سيجده القارئ في هذا الدليل؛ ما هو إلا ذكر لمختلف الأعراض التي تصيب الجلد، مع العلاج النباتي لكل عارض، وطريقة تحضير الدواء المناسب بالمقادير المحددة، وطريقة الاستعمال، هذا بالإضافة إلى الاحتياطات الواجب اتخاذها في كل حالة.
