قد يسأل سائل: ما يميز هذا الكتاب عن غيره من الكتب في شأن علي (رضي الله عنه) والمكتبات الإسلامية زاخرة بعشرات الكتب عن الرجل الذي لم يسجد لصنم قط؟ الجواب نجده في طيات الكتاب وفي أبوابه التي حاولت بأسلوب المسابقة تقديم كل ما يلم بعبقري العصور وإمام المتقين.
نتعرف في الباب الأول على صاحب لواء الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم في الدنيا والآخرة ونقف على حياته الزاخرة بالعلم والمعرفة. الباب الثاني من الكتاب يقودنا إلى أن نتعرف على الإمام علي رضي الله عنه، رجل قضاء وفقيه الأمة. قد يسأل سائل: ما دان علي أول من اسلم ولم يسجد لصنم قط وهو ابن عم الرسول الأكرم صلى الله عليه وسلم وكان حاضراً في عصر نزول الوحي على رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم.. فأين هو في القرآن الكريم؟
جواب هذا السؤال نجده في الباب الثالث من الكتاب، حيث تم فيه اختيار القليل من الآيات القرآنية التي أشارت إليه، لأن الكتاب ليس مختصاً بهذا الأمر. ننتقل للباب الرابع من الكتاب لنقف على ما قاله الرسول الأكرم صلى الله عليه وسلم في شأن علي رضي الله عنه، من خلال قصار كلماته.
تطرق الفصل الثاني من الباب الرابع إلى قصار حكم أمير المؤمنين رضي الله عنه والذي قال عنه الرسول الأعظم صلى الله عليه وسلم: منزلة علي كمنزلتي عند الله عز وجل. كي تكون المعرفة كاملة بشأن الإمام علي رضي الله عنه لا بد من أن نستمع للشهود... رجال عاصروا الإمام علياً رضي الله عنه، فوقفوا إلى جانبه أو عاندوه... فجاء الباب الخامس من الكتاب: أسماء عاصرن الإمام علياً رضي الله عنه.
وجهان لقلب واحد.. هذا هو عنوان الباب السادس الذي تتناول مختارات من أقوال علي رضي الله عنه والرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم في موضوع واحد وتشابه في القول ولا اختلاف في الرأي والمسألة. أما الباب الأخير من الكتاب فهو يدور حول كتاب (نهج البلاغة) الذي يعتبر من أهم الكتب الإسلامية وهو ثمرة علي رضي الله عنه في وجوده الشريف ولا زلنا نتعلم منه الكثير. عنوان الباب السابع (من طيات نهج البلاغة)..
