الانتصار في المسائل الكبار، في أجزاءه الثلاثة، لمؤلفه أبو الخطاب الكلوذاني يعرض الكتب الفقهية المهمة في موضوعه، وهو البحث في المسائل الخلافية بين الأئمة، بالنسبة لرواد الفقه الإسلامي عامة، ولرجال المذهب الحنبلي على وجه الخصوص، ذلك أنه قد حوى خلاصة لآراء الأئمة الأربعة وغيرهم من فقهاء الصحابة والتابعين في أشهر المسائل الخلافية واحتجاجاتهم ومناقشاتهم حول تلك المسائل. بالإضافة أنه أحد الكتب التي يمكن بواسطتها التمييز بين الروايات الراجحة من المرجوحة والأقوال الثابتة والقوية من الضعيفة التي أثِرَت عن الإمام أحمد ونقلت عنه. حيث أن كثرة الروايات عن الإمام أحمد وتعدد أجوبته واختلافها حول المسألة الواحدة يجعل الوصول إلى معرفة رأيه القاطع في المسألة أمراً شاقاً. وقد نُص على اعتبار هذا الكتاب من الكتب التي يعرف بها الصحيح من المذهب شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية في جوابه على سؤال وجه إليه عن الكتب الذي يذكر يها وجهان أو روايتان في المسألة ولا يذكر فيها الأرجح والأصح فقال: "طالب العلم يمكنه معرفة ذلك من كتب أخرى، مثل... والاقتصار لأبي الخطاب". هذا فضلاً عما حواه الكتاب من مادة علمية لها وزنها وقيمتها عند المشتغلين بالفقه الإسلامي وما اشتمل عليه القسم الذي هو موضوع الدراسة والتحقيق من أحاديث النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، وأثار عن الصحابة والتابعين تربو على الثلاثمائة ما بين حديث وأثر.
