في كتابه هذا يكشف "رائف فضل الله" عن واقعة كربلاء، ويبحث طويلاً في أحداثها ويخرجها لنا على شكل رواية مسلسلة الأحداث ومترابطة بشكل يجسد صورة واضحة دقيقة عن كل تفاصيلها وأبعادها. وهو في عمله هذا يراعي حرمة وقدسية التاريخ أولاً ثم التصرف البسيط ببعض الأحداث لأجل أن يكون الترابط بينها صحيحاً وسهلاً عند القارئ وخصوصاً فئة المؤمنين ولتكون أيضاً جواباً للمتأملين وحجة على الأدعياء كما أراد لها مؤلفها.
اعتمد المؤلف في روايته هذه عن كربلاء إلى مصادر هامة منها رواية أبي مخنف والطبري وابن الأثير ومعالي السبطين (ولواعج الأشجان والمجالس السنية) محسن الأمين، كذلك أخذ الراوي عن "طه حسين" في كتابه الفتنة الكبرى بجزأيه، وهذا ما أعطى الكتاب زخماً وروحاً ودقة في الانضباط في تسلسل الأحداث.. جديرة بالقراءة.
