إن القرآن الكريم يهدي للتي هي أقوم في الدين والدنيا، ويخطط للناس طريق الصلاح والإصلاح، وينظم لهم شؤون الحياة تنظيماً محكماً سديداً قويماً. وهو كثير الجوانب متعدد المقاصد، فهو على رغم ما كتبه الكاتبون وألّف فيه المؤلفون لا زالت معانيه تتجدد مع الأيام وعجائبه تنكشف لذوي الأفهام. وقد ذهب الباحثون في الكتابة عنه وفي فهمه مذاهب شتى، إذ كل باحث يتحدث عنه من زاوية معينة حسب تأثره واتجاهاته وسلوكه. وقد يكون مصيباً وقد يكون مخطئاً.
ويبقى القرآن يطل على الجميع من عليائه لا تؤثر فيه أفهام البشر. والقرآن باعتباره كتاب دعوة إلى الله يخاطب العقول ويفتح القلوب، يحث على التفكير ويدعو إلى استعمال العقل، ويؤيد العلم الصحيح. وحول القرآن الكريم وعلاقته بالعلم وتفسيره في ضوئه تدور مباحث هذا الكتاب الذي يضمّ دراسة أعدها الباحث حول التفسير العلمي للقرآن في الميزان.
ويقول الباحث أن ما دعاه إلى اختيار هذا الموضوع مادة لدراسته هو أنه قد لمس عند كثير من الشباب المثقف رغبة في استجلاء الحقيقة حول هذا الموضوع الذي يكثر فيه الجدل والنقاش بين مؤيد ومعارض، كما أنه رأى عند بعضهم ميلاً إلى الاستزادة من معرفة أسرار الآيات الكونية في القرآن.
أما منهجه في البحث فيقول بأنها تقوم على تتبع كل ما كتب حول هذا الموضوع، ومع استعراض أدلة كل من المؤيدين والمعارضين، والموازنة بينهما ونقد ما يحتاج إلى نقد، وتبيين وجه الحق فيه، مع استعراض بعض الأمثلة للفريقين، فما كان منها مشتملاً على حقائق علمية ثابتة موافقة لشروط التفسير التي اصطلح عليها العلماء لفهم كتاب الله وتعارفها المسلمون شدّد أزرها لينتفع بها الدارسون لهذا العلم، والراغبون في التزود من الثقافة القرآنية.
هذا وقد اقتضت من المؤلفة طبيعة الدراسة أن تكون في مقدمة وستة أبواب وخاتمة. أما المقدمة فكانت حول عنوان الموضوع، وقد تضمنت أربعة مباحث. أما الباب الأول: في نشأة التفسير العلمي وموقف العلماء منه؛ وفيه أربعة فصول. الباب الثاني: أشهر القائلين بالتفسير العلمي من القدامى والمحدثين؛ وفيه ثلاثة فصول. الباب الثالث: أشهر المعارضين للتفسير العلمي قديماً وحديثاً؛ وفيه فصلان. الباب الخامس: القضايا التي تركز حولها التفسير العلمي؛ وفيه فصلان. الباب السادس: التفسير العلمي بين المنهج والتطبيق؛ وفيه ثلاثة فصول.
