تمّ نقل هذه الموسوعة عن اللغة الانجليزية، إلاّ أن فريق العمل الذي قام بتعريبها قد أضاف إليها الكثير وضبعها بطابع عربي موضوعي.
ولذلك فإن قسماً كبيراً منها هو مؤلفٌ عن طريق إضافة ما يلزم من موضوعات ناقصة، أو عن طريق كتابة موضوعات جديدة لم ترصدها الموسوعة بنصها الأجنبي.
لقد توخينا الدقة في اختيار المواضيع التي تخدم القارئ العربي، وحرصنا حرصاً مؤكداً إبراز معالم الحضارة العربية التي أغلفها النص الأجنبى، كما أكدنا على دور أمتنا العربية في صياغة الحضارات القديمة، وعلى دورها الفاعل في ذلك، دون أن نلجأ إلى الخطابة أو الزعم، وإنما عن طريق إحقاق الحقائق التاريخية والعلمية المعروفة والمقررة. وقد فعلنا كل ذلك بلغة مبسطة يستطيع قراءتها الفتيات والفتيان، وأيضاً الكبار المتمرسين بفن القراءة.
