البرفسور بيار ادمون روبير المشرف على هذه الدراسة في الأدب المقارن للناقدة والباحثة نجلاء الإختيار يرى أن أهمية هذا البحث تكمن في جمعه بين عالمين مختلفين وربما متناقضين في رؤيتهما للعالم من منظارين متباينين ثقافياً وتراثياً وتاريخياً، على أن هذين العالمين قد التقيا.
أما المؤلفة فترى أن فكر كل من سيمون دي بوفوار وغادة السمان كان وليد بيئته، وإن التقتا في النهاية على أمور كثيرة أبرزها أنهما لا تؤيدان مبدأ الطلاق الكامل بين نضال المرأة والرجل مؤكدتين أن معركة المرأة على إشكاليتها وخصوصيتها ترتبط عموماً بالمعركة الوطنية العامة التي يجب أن تخوضها إلى جانب الرجل، ولا ثورة بدون حرية للمرأة ولا حرية للمرأة بلا ثورة، وجوهر الصلة بين كتابات دوبوفوار والسمان هو هذه الرغبة المستمرة بتحدي الأمر الواقع.
وقد أثبتنا أن مشكلة المرأة من بعض زواياها تتجاوز حدود الجنس والدين واللغة والحضارة لتشمل ضمن أطرها جميع نساء العالم على إختلافهن.
