المنامات الأيوبية-أو أخبار الأنام بأخبار المنام-كتاب يضم أربعين قصة من قصص المغامرات التي خاضها أبو أيوب الهندي في منامه ورواها عند صديقه الملازم له دائماً علقمة بن مرّة الشيباني.
وهي قصص تترسم خطى أصحاب المقامات الأول أمثال الهمذاني والحريري والسرقسطي والسيوطي وساهم، وتحاول أن تبعث الحياة في فنّ المنامات الذي حمل الوهراني لواءه، لكنه اندثر وانطفأت جذوته ولم يكتب له الذيوع.
وقد ظهر أبو أيوب الهندي-بطل هذه المنامات-مشغول البال على الدوام بحال الأمة العربية ومعاناتها في زمن هيمنة القوى العظمى على عقول أبناء الأمة وثرواتهم وأراضيهم ومصادرتها لآمالهم وتطلعاتهم وحلمهم بالوحدة والحرية والاستقلال والنهضة.
أما علقمة بن مرّة الشيباني فنجده يتعاطف كثيراً مع صديقه أبي أيوب ويدافع عنه ويرعى مصلحته، ولكنه في بعض الأحيان يعقب على قصص منامه بسخرية مرة ونقد لاذع يكشفان عن استيائه من واقع الأمة العربية والإسلامية وانتشار صفوف الخلل والفساد التي أدت إلى هذه الحال التي تملأ النفس مرارةً وعلقماً وانكساراً وألماً.
خاض أبو أيوب الهندي مغامراته في بقاع متنائية من الأرض، وخاض بعضها في البحار وفي الفضاء، فنسبت كل قصة إلى المكان الذي وقعت فيه أحداثها.
وقد اجتمع أبو أيوب الهندي في مناماته بشخصيات مشهورة وحاورهم في شأن حال الأمة.
ومثلما وجدت كل قصة سبيلاً إلى نوم البطل ليخوض مغامراته ويحقق ما عجز عنه في الواقع، فإنها وجدت كذلك سبيلاً مختلفاً في كل مرة لإيقاظه من نومه لكي يجد نفسه من جديد وجهاً لوجه أمام الواقع الذي هرب منه.
