هذا الكتاب هو محاولة متواضعة، أعدها المؤلف لتكون عوناً للطلبة والباحثين الذي يقومون بإعداد دراسات وبحوث على إختلاف مستوياتها وأهدافها وإختصاصاتها.
وتجدر الإشارة إلى أنّ دراسة منهجية البحث لا تقتصر الإفادة منها على طلاب الدراسات الأدبية أو اللغوية التي يُعنى بها قسم اللغة العربية وآدابها فقط، بل هي أساس البحث الأكاديمي في الدراسات الإنسانية عامة، وعلى المستويات كافة؛ ثم إنّ هذه المحاولة المتواضعة هي نتيجة خبرة طويلة في العمل الأكاديمي، وفي إعداد البحوث والدراسات الجامعية، ونتيجة المطالعات المتنوعة للمصادر العربية والأجنبية، وللمراجع التي عُينت بموضوع منهجية البحث الأكاديمي، وليس عملنا هذا إلاّ لبنة نضيفها إلى صرح الدراسات التي قام بها قبلنا أساتذة كرام في الموضوع ذاته.
ومن الملاحظ أنّ مواد هذا الكتاب جاءت موجزة؛ لأن تدريس منهجية البحث يجب أن يأخذ منحىّ عملياً تطبيقياً لا نظرياً، فالمقصود إكساب الطلاب والباحثين خبرة عملية في كيفية إعداد البحوث الأكاديمية، وليس الإكتفاء بتزويدهم بالمعلومات النظرية.
