يشكل عنوان (الرهوان) مثل لوحة الغلاف، عتبة سيميائية تختزل أطروحة الشاعر عبد الله الحامدي ومرماه، فخطاب النص يوحي إلى مدلول قصدي مفاده استحالة الفصل بين الشاعر وبيئته، وإذا ما عرفنا أن الشاعر من منطقة الجزيرة السورية المعروفة بتنوعها العرقي والديني فضلاً عن غناها الجغرافي والسياسي، نعرف مدى تعلق الشاعر بوطنه بما يحيل إليه (المكان) من أثر في وجدان الشاعر "وطني الذي عرفته / أكاد لا أعرفه / وطني الذي رأيته / أكاد لا أراه / وطني الذي غادرته / أكاد لا أغادره!". إن الشاعر لا يقدم للقارىء ببيلوغرافيا شخصية فحسب، لكنه يجترح زمناً حرجاً يتمثل فيه الشعري الجوهري بواقع الإنسان وعلاقاته بالعالم الذي يحيط به.
إن خطاب الشاعر الحامدي فيه حب للعالم وإنسانية عالمية، بعيدة في جذورها الروحية، وبراءة رؤياها، إن شاعرنا لا يضفي على موضوعاته أي طابع أيديولوجي، ولكنه في الوقت نفسه يرى تعاسة البشر من حوله "الغربة تخلط الألوان / والأصوات / ورائحة البشر / تمزجها بأشباح شبه آدمية، لا تشبه / القتلى / ولا سجن القلعة / أخفض صراخك، ها قد وصلنا / عقد آخر، وتنتهي "الجلجلة"! / نلعب / ونغني / ونتبادل الجنات الغائبة! ..." هذه المنظومة الكبيرة من الكلمات تتزاحم في مجموعة (الرهوان) الشعرية هذه لترسم مشهداً مستقبلياً لأرومة الشاعر الذهنية وأسئلته المحيرة عن وطن ما يزال ينتظر ...
يضم الكتاب خمسة عشر قصيدة في الشعر العربي الحديث جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: 1- وطني، 2- عاشقٌ عابر، 3- بسكليت، 4- أعرف طريقي للمرح، 5- عامودة مرة أخرى، 6- طنجة، 7- أنا عدوك (...) وعناوين أخرى.
