سنتناول، طيّ هذا الكتاب، أهميّة وجود الأب إلى جانب الطفل عماد المستقبل ورجل الغد، صحيح أن الطفل أشبه بعجينة له طبعه الخاص وشخصيّته الفريدة التي هي أشبه ما يكون بنواة صغيرة لدى ولادته، لكنها تحتاج إلى رعاية الأهل وتنشئتهم وتثقيفهم لتتبلور إستعداداته الكامنة، وبفضل توجيه الأهل والمحيط لها تسلك طريق النموّ الطبيعي.
تناولت هذا الموضوع، دراسات متعدّدة في معظم بلدان العالم، وشدّدت على أهميّة دور الأهل في نموّ الطفل وتطوّره السليمين؛ وقد اتّفقت كلّها على حاجة الطفل الماسّة لوجود الأهل والمجتمع إلى جانبه، ودراساتنا الميدانية المحقَّقة في هذا المجال ونخص بالذكر منها تلك التي تناولت دور الأب والمشاكل المطروحة عن غيابه عن الأسرة، أظهرت بما لا يقبل لاشك الدور الرئيس للأب إلى جانب طفله.
لكن، تبيّن لنا أنّ معظم الآباء في المجتمع الشرقي عامّةً، واللبناني خاصّةً، هم مقصّرون تجاه طفلهم إمّا عن جهل للدور المتوجّب عليهم القيام به، أو عن إهمالٍ من قِبَلهم، أو تمشّياً مع الذهنيّة السائدة في مجتمعهم؛ وفي كل الحالات يبقى الطفل وحده الضحيّة وبالتالي، مستقبل البلاد لأنّ الطفل ركيزتها وأساسها، تساؤلات تفرض نفسها، هنا: ما دور وجود الأب إلى جانب الطفل؟ وما الواجبات المفروض عليه القيام بها تجاه الطفل كي يساعده على تحقيق نموّ وتطوّر طبيعيّين؟...
معظم علماء النفس والتحليل النفسي أجمعوا على القول بأنّ الدور الأساسي والمبدئي للأب داخل الأسرة إنّما يرتبط بـ "السلطة" و"السطوة" وبتمثيل القانون والشريعة الإجتماعيّين، لكن ينبغي فهم هذه السلطة l'autorité، اليوم، بشكل مختلف عمّا كانت عليه بالأمس البعيد أو حتّى القريب...
