يعكس هذا الكتاب أهمية الطفولة في التربية الإسلامية ففي الوحدة الأولى يبين حرص الاسلام على وضع الأسس التي تمهد لوجود المجتمع الإسلامي فاهتم بالأسرة معتبرها القاعدة الرئيسة للمجتمع كما اهتم بالوالدين باعتبارهما الركن الأساس للاسرة كما اهتم بالاطفال باعتبارهم البنات التي تكون الأسرة وأهتم الاسلام بصحة الأطفال وأوجب على الدولة مساعدة الأباء في تأمين غذاء جيد للاطفال وحث الاسلام الأباء على تعليم الاطفال الفروسية والسباحة وركوب الخيل وركز أصول التربية الاسلامية في القرآن والسنة حيث رفع من مكانة الأخلاق ومطلب الآخرة ونبذ الدنيا وعدد خصائص التربية الاسلامية وما فيها من شمول وتوازن وتعامل وحرية وتكافؤ الفرص ويتناول في الوحدة الثانية مكانة الطفولة في الاسلام كما صورها القرآن الكريم فالأطفال هبة الله وحث على إنجاب الأطفال وطالب المرأة بارضاع الطفل وبين مدى أهمية الرضاعة للام والطفل معا وقد أكد علماء النفس أن الرضاعة ليست مجرد إشباع حاجة عضوية إنما هو موقف نفسي اجتماعي شامل يشمل الام والرضيع.
ويذكر في الوحدة الثالث ومفهوم الأمومة في الاسلام وواجبات الأم ومفهوم الأبوبة وواجبات الأب ومعاملة الأبناء الذكور والايناث تساوي في الحقوق والواجبات لا فرق وتأديب الاطفال بأدب الاسلام ،نظافة، طهارة،أداب التعامل، استأذان عبارة كاملة ويشير في الوحدة الرابعة الى حقوق الطفولة في الاسلام أن ينتسبو الى أباء فاضلين وأمهات فاضلات بالاضافة الى حقهم في حياة فاضلة فلا وأد ولاكره ولاطرد لذكر أو أنثي بالاضافة الى تسميتهم الأسماء الحسنة والتأديب والتعلم.
