العلماء ورثة الأنبياء، والأنبياء لم يُورِّثوا ديناراً ولا درهماً، وإنما ورَّثوا العلم؛ فمن أخذ به.. أخذ بحظ وافر؛ ولذا شمَّر العلماء عن سواعدهم، وأنفقوا أغلى ما يملكون ألا وهي أنفاسهم وأوقاتهم؛ فمنهم من توجَّه بكلِّيته لفنٍّ واحدٍ، ومنهم من توجَّه لعلمٍ واحدٍ بفنونه وآدابه وتفريعاته وأبوابه، ومنهم من توجَّه إلى علوم متعددة وفنون كثيرة، وكان الإمام البيهقي رحمه الله تعالى من القسم الثالث، وتآليفه شاهدةٌ بذلك؛ فقد ألَّف كتباً عديدة في السنة المطهرة وفي أحاديث الأحكام، وفي الآداب والأخلاق، وفي أبواب العقيدة وفي المناقب والفضائل. وكتابه «السنن الكبرى» أشبه ما يكون بفقهٍ مقارن وخاصة مع السادة الحنفية؛ لاحتوائه على أحاديث الأحكام والأدلة، وأراد المؤلف أن يتحفنا بكتابٍ يكون مدخلاً لمن يريد مطالعة كتابه «السنن الكبرى». فقسم كتابه إلى ثلاثة مباحث أساسية: الأول في الاصطلاحات الحديثية، ثم الاصطلاحات الفقهية، ثم ختم بآداب العالم والمتعلم، فمن أراد خوض بحار كتاب «السنن الكبرى».. فلا بد له أن يدخل من كتاب «المدخل إلى علم السنن» ليتعرَّف على مناهج ومصطلحات علماء الرواية مع أصول الفقه الشافعي، فهو يعدُّ بحق حجر الأساس في كتب مصطلح الفقه الشافعي لمن جاء بعده، جمع بين طريقة المحدثين والفقهاء. ولقد أتحفنا فضيلة العلامة المحقق محمد عوامة - كما هو ديدنه - باختيار النفائس، فها هو يبرز لنا هذه الدرة الفاخرة من مكنونها، معتمداً على نسخةٍ كأنها يتيمة العقد، عزيزة الوجود، هي أصلٌ أصيلٌ عتيق: مالكها: الحافظ ابن عساكر، وقارئها: الحافظ السمعاني، سماعاً على الحافظ أبي المعالي الفارسي عن المؤلف البيهقي، وكاتبها: الإمام القاسم بن عساكر، فنعم الولد ونعم الوالد، ونعم القارئ ونعم السامع. فإليكم هذه النادرة، تقدِّمها دار المنهاج العامرة بحلتها الفاخرة؛ لتنال رضا المولى في الدنيا والآخرة.
