الإمام الخليفة الراشد ، أمير المؤمنين أبو حفص عمر بن عبد العزيز ، خامس الخلفاء الراشدين ، نادرة من نوادر أئمة الهدى ، أجمعت الأمة على ذلك ، فهو مجدد المئة الأولى باتفاق . وقال الحسن البصري رحمه الله : ( ما ورد علينا قط كتاب عمر بن عبد العزيز إلا بإحياء سُنَّة أو إماتة بدعة ، أو ردِّ مظلمة ) . وقال مجاهد رحمه الله تعالى : ( أتينا نُعلِّمه ، فما برحنا حتى تعلَّمنا منه ) ، وقال ميمون بن مهران رحمه الله تعالى : ( ما كانت العلماء عند عمر إلا تلامذة ، وكان عمر بن عبد العزيز معلم العلماء ) . وأرسل كتاباً إلى أهل اليمن فيه : ( أما بعد : فآمر أهل العلم أن ينشروا العلم في مساجدهم ، فإن السنة كانت قد أُميتت ) . وحثَّ على نشر العلم ، وهو الذي أمر بتدوين العلم وتثبيته ، فوجَّه الكتب إلى ابن حزم وابن شهاب الزهري ، فدوَّنا على رأس المئة ، لكن المنية وافته سنة ( 101 هـ ) قبل أن يرى ثمار تدوين السنة والعلم ، وكان قد بلغ أربعين سنة ، بعد خلافته بسنتين ، رضي الله عنه وأرضاه . وإن الله قد ادَّخر لعمر بن الخطاب منقبةَ اقتراحه على أبي بكر الصديق رضي الله عنهما القيام بمهمة جمع القرآن الكريم بعد اليمامة ، وادَّخر لسبطه عمر بن عبد العزيز منقبة أمره علماء عصره بجمع السنة النبوية ؛ بناء على دقة ملاحظته لذهاب العلماء واندراس العلم . . وكم كان الخير عظيماً بعيد الأثر بهذا الأمر !! جزاه الله عن الإسلام والمسلمين خير الجزاء . وهذا الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا هو « مسند أمير المؤمنين عمر بن عبد العزيز » هو قطرة من بحر هذا الإمام ، جمعها الإمام أبو بكر الباغندي رحمه الله تعالى المتوفى سنة ( 312 هـ ) وهو عملٌ لم يُسبَق إليه ، جمعه على منهج المحدثين في تصنيف المسانيد ، وهو مرجعٌ لمن بعده . وهذا الكتاب غيض من فيض هذا الإمام ، وقطرة من بحره الفياض ، ولئن اخترمته المنية قبل أن يبثَّ علمه . . فإن كل من كتب في الحديث من بعده بأمره هو في صحيفته ؛ فسبحان الموفق للخيرات .
