البَلَاذُري (000 - 279 هـ = 000 - 892 م)
أحمد بن يحيى بن جابر بن داود البَلَاذُري: مؤرخ، جغرافي، نسابة، له شعر. من أهل بغداد.
جالس المتوكل العباسى، ومات في أيام المعتمد، وله في المأمون مدائح. وكان يجيد الفارسية وترجم عنها كتاب (عهد أزدشير) وأصيب
في آخر عمره بذهول شبيه بالجنون فشد بالبيمارستان إلى أن توفي. نسبته إلى حب البلاذر (Anacardium) قيل: إنه أكل منه فكان سبب علته. من كتبه (فتوح البلدان - ط) و (القرابة وتاريخ الأشراف - ط) أجزاء منه، ويسمى (أنساب الأشراف) ومنه مخطوطة نفيسة في مجلد واحد، كتبت في دمشق سنة 659 هـ في خزانة الرباط (7 جلاوي) و (كتاب البلدان الكبير) لم يتمه

يحفظ البلاذري من خلال مؤلفه هذا أنساب العرب الأشراف من سائر قبائل العرب. ويمثل هذا المؤلف مرجعاً هاماً لسائر الباحثين والمؤرخين في هذا المجال ابتدأ المؤلف في هذا القسم بنسب من بقي من ولد حنظلة ثم من بني سعد بن زيد مناة بن تميم ثم نسب بني عمرو بن تميم. ومما يزيد من فائدة هذا المرجع أنه جاء محققاً حيث تم وضع هامش تم فيه مقابلة النسخة المحققة على النسخ الموجودة، كما تم توثيق المعلومات بإعادتها إلى مصادرها، بالإضافة إلى ذلك تم شرح للعبارات الغامضة وللكلمات الصعبة الواردة في متن الكتاب. ومما زاد من فائدة هذا الكتاب تلك الفهارس الملحقة في آخره وهي: فهارس الأعلام والقبائل والطوائف والأمم، فهرس الأماكن، فهرس الأيام والغزوات، فهرس النظم والحضارة، فهرس الآيات والأحاديث النبوية والقوافي والأمثال، إلى جانب جدول بأسماء المصادر المعتمدة في التحقيق.
