إن الإشتغال بالعلوم الشرعية من أجل القربات، وأهم العبادات، وإن على رأس هذه العلوم علم الحديث النبوي الشريف، ذلك العلم الذي يميز به الثابت من الموضوع، والصحيح من غيره، ولقد أولى علماؤنا الحديث وعلومه عناية فائقة تمثلت في كثرة المصنفات الحديثة وتنوعها، حتى أنها أصبحت تشكل كَمّاً هائلاً، ومكتبة ضخمة مترامية الأطراف.
ولذا فقد رغبت في الإسهام في خدمة السنَّة النبوية، من خلال هذا البحث الوصفي، الذي أقصد به وصف نوع من أنواع المصنفات الحديثية المتداولة بين أيدي طلبة العلم، وهذا النوع هو: كتب زوائد الحديث، ولقد كانت خطتي في هذا البحث ما يلي: 1-معنى الزوائد في اللغة والإصطلاح، 2-نشأة كتب الزوائد، 3-أهمية كتب الزوائد، 4-ثبت بكتب الزوائد، 5-أنواع كتب الزوائد، 6-ملاحظات على كتب الزوائد، 7-تعريف بأهم كتب الزوائد، 8-مقترحات لخدمة كتب الزوائد.
