هذا الكتاب هو الجزء الثالث من سلسلة القراءة المحبوبة وهو مخصص لتلاميذ السنة الثالثة من مرحلة التعليم الأساسي الحلقة الأولى، وملتزم بالمناهج الجديدة الصادرة بموجب المرسوم 10227 تاريخ 8 أيار 1997. والقراءة المحبوبة بستان يزهو بالألوان، ويعبق بالشذا، ويرفل بالغنى والتنوع... بحيث جاءت نصوصه تثير اهتمام الأولاد: فتغني عقولهم، وتصقل أذواقهم، وترهق أحاسيسهم، وتفتح عيونهم على عالمهم الحلو الجميل.
من عالم الطفولة انبثقت فكرة الكتاب، ومن أحلامهم الحلوة اختيرت الموضوعات، فجاءت تنبض بالحياة، في إطار لوحات فنية لا أحلى منها ولا أجمل! وقد اتبعت هذه اللوحات بأسئلة تمهيدية، تفسح المجال أمام الأولاد للتعبير عما في أنفسهم مما يسهم في إغناء طاقتهم التعبيرية، ويطرد شبح الجوف والتردد، ويغرس الثقة بالنفس وفي الكتاب أيضاً.
"معجم خاص بالمفردات والتعابير" والغاية منه تذليل الصعوبات اللغوية أمام القارئ الصغير، وحمله على التعبير بطرائق مختلفة وأساليب متنوعة. أما باب "محادثة على النص وأعاده" فكان الدافع إليه تعزيز قدرات الأولاد على الاكتشاف وتعويدهم على لتعبير الشفهي، واختبار مدى الرأى الشخصي الذي يتطلب جرأة وصراحة.
وكانت نهاية المشوار مع تمارين متنوعة، تعتمد على ذاكرة التلميذ وسعة خياله، وتراعي معارفه ومكتسباته، وما اختزنته ذاكرته من ثقافة ميسرة، حدودها عالمه ودنياه، كل ذلك يصعب في الهدف الأساسي، الذي من أجله وضعت هذه السلسلة ألا وهو: تنمية قدرات الأولاد، وإفساح المجال أمامهم ليعبروا عما في نفوسهم بجرأة وطلاقة وحرية.
