كانت الأيام تمر كالبرق على العالم كله، لم أعرف لم كل هذه السرعة وماذا سيفعل بي الزمن أكثر من ذلك؟ إضطررت للخروج لأتنفس قليلاً... الهواء في المدينة خفيف قياساً مع الإختناق القابض عليها. لم يصلح الوقت ولا توقف سيارات المازوت في بيروت الأزمة الخانقة بل على العكس، إزدادات تعقيداً وأصبح أكثر السائقين بلا عمل... إنتهى الخير والقوت في وقت إرتفع فيه صحيفة البنزين إلى الخيال... السائقون يعملون لإسكات أطفالهم من أنين الجوع فقط، ومنهم من يحاول العيش بسلام فيركض وراء المحروقات تماماً كالنار المشتعلة في برميل من النفط... السرعة نفسها لكن من المؤكد أن الأطفال سيصابون بداء أخطر من الجوع يسمى ( الأمية ) وقد بلغ عدد المصبين بالوباء رقماً خرافياً... ليس في العالم بل في لبنان. الجهل قائم بلا حدود... أقساط المدارس مرتفعة جداً والدولة غائبة، في المقابل لا تجد مقعداً لطفل واحد في المدارس الخاصة، وإن وجدت فالأقساط فوق الإحتمال. التناقض الأعمى، حكاية هذا العالم العربي. إنه إمرأة مصابة بالعصاب، هل من طبيب يدرك حقيقة هذا المرض؟! كيف يمضي العربي حياته المؤقتة المربوطة بحبل وساعة وكيف يجترح معجزة لإكمال عمره؟ ( إنفخت الدف ) وسكنت كل الطبول العربية التي نادت بذات الرسالة الخالدة... مشت " خالدة " وسط الزحام إلى القبر وإندثرت منذ السبعينات إلى غير رجعة، واليوم يعقدون عليها الآمال بكل كبرياء لما تبقى من حلم. لم يعد الفرح ساكناً بل مسكوناً بالأشباح. لن يجد القارئ صعوبة في تلمس نبرة الحزن وطعم المرارة اللتان تخيمان على أجواء هذه الحكاية التي يحاول الكاتب من خلالها تصوير الواقع العربي المتردي بكل أبعاده السياسية والإجتماعية والفكرية. لغة نقدية لاذعة وسخرية، تجعل القارئ يضحك إلى حد الغثيان. فهو المعني الأول والأخير، وهو الذي يعيش تلك المأساة الملهاة، إلا أنه كان يظن أنه مجرد مشاهد يرقب أحداث فيلم أمريكي طويل.
