تنتهي علاقة ماريا بحبيبها الشاعر الشاب بعد أن تقع في غواية الشعر لدى خليل، الشاعر المعروف والمكرّس كرمز ثقافي. وفي محاولة للبحث عن ذاتها تمتهن التصوير الضوئي قبل أن ترتبط بجرّاح التجميل سليم عوّاد.
حين تكتشف ماريا مثليّة زوجها الجنسيّة تهجره وتعود إلى المدينة البحريّة الصغيرة باحثةً فيها عن ذاكرة ماضية. تلتقي خليل وقد ماتت زوجته وتفرّغ مع مجموعة من أصدقائه لتأسيس متحف يروي تاريخ المدينة المغيّب من قبل السلطة.
لكن ما علاقة رئيس الجمهورية بذلك المتحف الحلم كي يُنصب تمثاله هناك ويحتل المكان؟
رواية تغوص في تشوّهات بشر يعيشون في بلد يمعن باضطهاد أبنائه.
