دخلت بلاد العرب 2011 - أو دخل عليها - من بوابة الدول المتصدعة والأأنظمة الشائخة والرؤوس التي "أينعت وحان قطافها" فتدحرج بعض الرؤساء سريعاً باتجاه السقوط وبدأ آخرون يتلمسون رؤوسهم. فدومينو الجمهوريات العربية المنهارة، لم يدع مجالاً للشك في اتجاهه وتوجهاته.
حمل الربيع العربي لنا - نحن السوريين - حلاوة نسينا طعمها، وأحلاماً أكبر مما توقعنا، عندما فكّ أطفال درعا عقد لساننا، ورسموا بأصابعهم الغضّة معالم زمن جديد يولد، وأدخلو البلاد والعباد فيه. زمن يغلفه المجهول، وتحف به المخاطر من كل صوب. لكنه مدجج بالأمل والعزيمة وشهوة الحياة. ولم يتركوا لسائل أن يسأل، ولمتردد أن يعبق الطريق. فالحرية تنادي مفتقديها.
هي وقائع وأحداث شهدتها وعايشتها وشاركت فيها. تخصني وتخص دائرتي المقربة اجتماعياً وجغرافياً وسياسياً. نقلتها بدقة وأمانة على قدر ما أسعفتني الذاكرة والتسجيل، لتأخذ مكانها إلى جانب الشهادات العديدة للذين تكلموا عن تلك المرحلة، وكتبوا عنها. والذين سيفعلون. فحق سورية علينا، وحق الذين غابوا وراء تضحياتهم الجليلة، أن نسرد ما رأينا وما سمعنا، ويقدّم كلّ منا شهادته، ليتشكل سفر التاريخ المنصف لثورة السوريين، التي كانت امتحاناً إقليمياً ودولياً صعباً. استولدت آمالاً لنا ومخاطر على آخرين.
