حياة عائلة ومعاناة زوجة وتحكم زوج وغرام بسائق العائلة الهندي بجرأة فاطمة التي تزوجت سائقها الهندي يثير الكتاب سؤالا: لماذا لا يسمح للمرأة بالسياقة؟ وخلال بحثه عن الإجابة عبر الفن يتشظى السؤال الجدلي أسئلة صادمة، تتعلق بصاحبة الشأن، ومرة أخرى بولي أمرها ومجتمعها. يدفع البحث الكاتب لخوضه مغامرة، تبدأ بانتهاكه خصوصية مجتمع المرأة، حيث يتسلل متخفياً إلى البيوت والمدارس والسهرات، وحتى إلى خلوة المرأة بسائقها مسترقاً السمع، مختلساً النظر. وتنتهي بتقليب أرشيفها التاريخي، مهيباً بالجميع للمشاركة في حل هذه المشكلة المعلقة التي تقتضي مراجعة شاملة لمنظومة الأفكار والمفاهيم، وتقتضي الاعتراف بمنجز المرأة الحضاري والثقافي. نتوقع أن تثير هذه الرواية جدلاً لأنها مواجهة صريحة مع الذات، هي هجاء للقبيح، واحتفاء بالجميل إذا صدمتنا بأفكارها الجريئة فهي لا تستهدف تشخيص المشكلة بهدوء. كتبت الرواية بلغة سردية مدروسة متعددة المستويات، تتراوح بين لغة الشعر الرفيعة، ولغة السرد البسيطة، لغة تتحاور فيها مفردات مدرّسة الأدب الجزلة بمفردات سائقها المتواضعة دون أن يتعطل تدفق المشاعر والأفكار بينهما. في ملحمة المرأة حيث تمتشق القوة للانتصار على الضعف، وتشهر الحب لمواجهة الكره، وتقاوم التهميش بتأكيد حصورها. على الرغم من مرجعية الكاتب الواقعية، إلا أنه أولى اهتماماً بالقيم الفنية الأخرى للسرد، وإذا انزاح يضل في اتجاه ما هو جوهري، ومتماس مع سؤال الرواية المحوري. الناشر
