يجلس على كرسيه متوجاً بالصمت وحاشيتهُ الفراشات، ملكٌ تنازل - عن طيب خاطر - ووزعَ سطوتهُ وجواريهِ على الرعيّة الطامعة بكلّ شيء واكتفى بالوهم.
كنتُ أراهُ كلّ يومٍ جالساً عند نافذةٍ شقته كأنهُ ينتظر غائباً لن يعود، وحينما يعود الليلُ وحدهُ ينهضُ الشيخُ ببطءٍ نحو النافذة، وقبل أن يسد لها يرفعُ عينيه نحوي فألمحُ فيهما ظلال إبتسامةٍ حانية.
منذ أربعة أيام وهو لم يتزحزح عن كرسيه كأنه في تحدٍ مع الإنتظار، يتابعُ خطو الفكرة في مدارها منذ ولادتها حتى تشيخ، صامتاً يحدق في الفراغ كمن يبحثُ عن كوكبٍ منسيّ في حبّةِ رمَان.
فجأة توقفت سيارةُ إسعاف عند باب المبنى المقابلِ لشقتي، خرج منها رجلان يحملان نقالةٍ... ثم صمت وستارةً مسدلة.
