يشكل تاريخ العشائر الكردية صفحات ممتعة تطفح بالعبر والدروس، ضمن التاريخ الكردي المعن في القدم، والمتصف بالتعقيد الشديد، ويلقي هذا النزر اليسير من التاريخ، ضوءاً كاشفاً على مجمل تاريخ الأكراد، وبالأخص خلال القرن التاسع عشر وبداية القرن العشرين، وعلى روابط تاريخية بشعوب وعشائر عاشت بجوارهم وكوّنت معهم علاقات مختلفة ومتنوعة الجوانب، كما وتوضح الأحداث المتصلة بالحياة من سياسات الدولة العثمانية تجاه الشعوب والعشائر الواقعة ضمن سيادتها، ونهجها الإجتماعي والإقتصادي نحوها وطريقة الحكم ووسائله الغريبة.
وإضافة إلى ذلك، فليس في وسع التاريخ إهمال أو تجاهل وقائع توالت على سيرة هذه العشائر والتي قررت مصائرها وؤسائها وأسرها الحاكمة، وهو فوق ذلك تاريخ له قصة لا تخلو من الطرافة، ومن جهة أخرى، فإنه ليس من السهل والميسور متابعة هذا التاريخ وتدوينه وذلك لندرة المصادر التاريخية والمنابع الإخبارية التي تتطرق إليها، وكذلك بسبب الغموض الذي يكتنف جوانب عدة من سياسة الحكومة العثمانية التعسفية والتي لا شك أن عملت الأوساط الرسمية ما وسعها لإخفائها وطمس معالمها.
ويلوح الباحث بأن رؤساء هذه الطوائف كانوا من بين أوائل القادة الذين قاموا بالمعارضة منذ نهاية القرن الثامن عشر، وذاقوا مع طوائفهم من جراء ذلك صنوفاً من القهر والإضطهاد.
