أوّلها: إبصاره النور في بيت للأيتام و جهله لكثير من الأشياء في هذا الكون الخفي.
ثانيها: تعلَمه دروس من خيانة الحبيب ومصالح الأصدقاء.
ثالثها: خضوعه لدروس واختبارات وبلاءات تمثلت بسجنه ظلماً، وعثور أهله عليه ثم موت والدته وفقدان العائلة الصغيرة التي كانت تخلو من والده - من جديد والعودة إلى دار الأيتام التي باتت عالمه الذي ملّ منه.
رابعها: محاولته ترويض الحياة من حوله كي تتسع لميعة شبابه وحرارة أفكاره. أما خامسها وأهمها فكانت: صبره الذي تجسّد بأروع الصور وأنقى المشاهد.
وهكذا يكون كلوديوس قد مرّ بأقسى المراحل التي تتزاحم للنيل من شبابنا وحياتنا المتواضعة ولم يستسلم رغم كمّ الألم الذي طال روحه البريئة. - يحيى الستراوي
