بعد إعداد المخطوطة من جديد، قدمتها إلى وزارة الثقافة والإعلام في بغداد، فطبع في 1971 طباعة أنيقة جداً ضمن سلسلة الكتب الفنية.
ولقي الكتاب إهتمام المثقفين من القراء بصفة خاصة، لا سيما من لديهم خلفية رياضية، بعضهم اتصل بي وأعرب عن إنذهاله بالكتاب، وأنا أعترف بأن مثل هذا الكتاب يمكن أن يغني مؤلفه لو طبع في الغرب.
لكن الكتاب لم يوزع في العالم العربي، ولم يطلع عليه من غير العراقيين سوى من كان يزور العراق من المثقفين العرب في المناسبات الثقافية.
لذا كانت تحدوني رغبة لإعادة طبعه خارج العراق ليتاح للقراء العرب الإطلاع عليه، وقد بادر بهذه المهمة الصديق فخري كريم عندما زار بودابست يوم كنت مقيماً فيها.
كان ذلك في أوائل الثمانينات، على ما أذكر، واستلم مني نسخة من الكتاب، بأمل مفاتحة ياسر عرفات، مباشرة أو عن طريق أحد المثقفين الفلسطينيين، لإعادة طبعه على نفقة منظمة التحرير الفلسطينية، وتحدث الصديق فخري كريم في هذا الشأن مع الشاعر معين بسيسو.
وقد اجتذب الكتاب إهتمام بسيسو، وأهمل فكرة إعادة طبع الكتاب ليحتفظ بالنسخة له، وصادرها، على ما يبدو! وانتهت تلك المحاولة (لطبع الكتاب ثانية) عند هذا الحد، ونام الكتاب عندي طيلة السنوات التالية، لأن ما أقعدني عن إعادة طبعه رغبتي القوية في مراجعته، ولم يتهيأ لي ذلك.
لكن سيؤسفني أنني لم أحقق رغبتي في مراجعة الكتاب، لأنني أشعر أن هناك أشياء أود حذفها، وأخرى أود إضافتها، وأنا لست راضياً عن لغة الكتاب، لكنني آمل، مع ذلك، أن يبقى الكتاب مثيراً لإهتمام القراء.
