تحوي هذا الدراسة الأكاديمية ترجمة وافية لشخصية علمية من أعلام الجامع الأزهر الشريف، وهو العلّامة الإمام نور الدين علي بن أحمد العَدَوي الصعيدي، من أعيان القرن الثاني عشرَ الهجري. كان ذا مكانة رفيعة بين علماء عصره، وكانت له المشاركات العلمية تدريساً وتأليفاً، وتدقيقاً وتحقيقاً. وقد تناولت هذه الدراسة عصرَ الإمام، وسيرته، وتراجم شيوخه وتلامذته وبعض معاصريه، ووصفَ مؤلفاته وتتبعها في عالم المخطوطات. كما احتوت الدراسة قريباً من مئة مسألة فقهية من مدوّنات العلّامة العَدَوي، درسها المؤلف بهدف إلقاء الضوء على جهود العلّامة المذكور الفقهية، وإبراز تميّزه في العلوم الشرعية المختلفة. وإثراءً للبحث ضمّن المؤلف دراسته هذه نصّين للعلّامة العَدَوي يُنشران لأول مرة.
