تعد " رسالة القدس " من بين الرسائل الكثيرة التي لم تُنشر لإبن عربي ، وعنوان الرسالة يشرح بوضوح طبيعتها وهي في الواقع رسالة بعثها إبن عربي من مكة عام 600 ه / 1203 م لرفيقه في تونس الصوفي أبي محمد عبد العزيز . وهذه الرسالة كما يشير محقق الكتاب الدكتور عدنان محمد آل طعمة نشرها آسين بلاثيوس قبل أكثر من خمسين عاماً ، ولهذا رأى أنه من المناسب إعادة نشرها والتحقيق فيها ، بعد التعريف بسيرة آسين بلاثيوس وآثاره وترجماته للعديد من أصول الفلسفة الإسلامية وغيرها من الفلسفات اليونانية ، ثم التعريف بالمؤلف إبن عربي ورحلاته وسيرة حياته وفلسفته ومؤلفاته العديدة ، ثم ينتقل إلى التعريف بالرسالة موضوع الكتاب . ويبدأ بلمحة سريعة لحالة الحياة الروحية في الأراضي المشرقية ، مكة ومصر فقط من خلال مشاهدة إبن عربي منذ وصوله مصر عام 598ه حتى عام 600ه ، وهو تاريخ الرسالة ، وفيها بيّن إبن عربي الإختلاف بين فساد التصوف المشرقي، وفضائل الصوفيين في المغرب والأندلس ، وهي مليئة بوصف طريف للعادات والملابس ، والممارسات الدينية والثقافية الزاهدة الصوفية ومعايب ونفاق الصوفيين المشارقة ، كما يقارن إبن عربي في هذه الرسالة نفسه على التوالي بالنماذج الأكثر سمّواً ورفعةً في الكمال الروحي التي يقدمها التاريخ الإسلامي وعلى الأخص في القرون الأولى أي مع صحابة النبي محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم من عُبّاد ونُسّاك وزُهّاد نموذجيين ، كما ذكر إبن عربي في الرسالة شيوخه الروحيين ، وأصحابه في حياته الدينية من الذين ساهموا في تعليمه ويعترف أنهم قد أثّروا في تكوين شخصيته ، منذ أن بدأ على طريق الزهد ، ويختم الرسالة بفصل ذو طابع عقائدي ، وهو تأمل في المنافع الإلهية وفي الإمتنان الذي تُدان له الروح .
