لابد لكل مجتمع يريد أن يحقق العدل ويؤمن السعادة لأفراده من نظام ينظم علاقاتهم, ويضع الحدود التي تبين لكل فرد ما له وما عليه من حقوق وواجبات. من هنا جاءت الشرائع السماوية, (فبعث الله النبين مبشرين ومنذرين وأنزل معهم الكتاب بالحق ليحكم بين الناس فيما اختلفوا فيه). وجاءت الشريعة الإسلامية- من خلال القرآن العظيم والسنة المطهرة- فوضعت نظاماً متكاملاً شاملاً لجميع مصالح العباد, صالحاً لتحقيق العدل والإنصاف فيما بينهم في كل عصر وقطر. وقد بذل علماء هذه الأمة جهداً كبيراً في خدمة هذا الجانب من جوانب التشريع الإسلامي. وهذا الكتاب من جملة تلك الجهود, أراد المؤلف من خلاله أن يبين عظمة النظام الإسلامي وتشريعاته. والكتاب إنما هو جزء من سلسلة سماها( إن الدين عند الله الإسلام) شملت بأجزائها جميع جوانب الإسلام من عقيدة وعبادة ومعاملة وخلق. وقد اقتصر المؤلف في عرضه لمواضيع الكتاب على سرد الآيات والأحاديث وآثار الصحابة التي تتعلق بكل موضوع من الموضوعات دون ذكر شيء من أقوال الفقهاء.
أحمد عبد الجواد: ولد بمدينة ادلب بسورية عام 1326هجرية, وبها تلقى تعليمه الأول, ثم رحل الى دمشق وبها تلقى تعليمه العالي, وكان رحمه الله تعالى متعلق بالمسجد النبوي الشريف فكان محافظاً على الصلوات الخمس جماعة فيه, وكان رحمه الله تعالى على اتصال وثيق ومحبة قوية مع العلماء الأفاضل في عصره, فمنهم الإمام عبد الحليم محمود إمام الأزهر الشريف والمفتي الأكبر لمصر رحمه الله تعالى وغيرهم.
