في روايتها الأولى تقدم الكاتبة الجزائرية "شريفة فداج" قراءة درامية بصرية تستعيد من خلالها عدداً من معطيات الخلفية الفلسفية لاتجاه التمرد والاحتجاج في المسرح الحديث حيث الغضب والثورة، وحيث اللا معقول أو العبث "Absurd" اصطلاحاً معبراً عن اتجاه مسرحي كان مطوعاً تعبيرياً لحالات الإحباط بمجابهة المصير البشري والشعور بعبثية الفعل الإنساني أمام مصيره المحتوم بأساه وتراجيدياه الأزلية الأبدية.
وفي هذا العمل تخوض الكاتبة في تعقيدات المجتمع الجزائري، وترسم للقارئ لوحة ولكنها غير مزخرفة عن العلاقة الصدامية والمتكاملة في آن واحد بين الممثل وذاته. في وهران، التي شهدت اغتيال كبار المسرحيين الجزائريين في أعوام الحروب الأهلية السوداء دارت أحداث هذه الرواية المفعمة بالإيجاءات والصور الإنسانية المأساوية المؤثرة من خلال قصة شاب وجد في التمثيل درباً له، قبل أن يسقط ضحيته وهو الممثل الجزائري فريد بن يحيان إثر وقوعه في الحد الفاصل بين الواقع والمتخيل، الأمر الذي جعله في نهاية الأمر يهجر التمثيل دون أن يعرف أحد من زملاؤه إلى أين ذهب "... سادت شائعات عن أن فريد بن يحيا الذي اختفا يعاني من مرض غريب ونادر لم يفلح الأطباء في فهمه أو معرفة طريقة لعلاجه، أما رقمه فمقفل أو خارج نطاق الخدمة، زملاؤه في المسرح قالوا بأنه كان ممثلاً جيداً إلى حد أنه تمكن من تمثيل المرض لأنه اختفى كما لو أنه ذاب في الهواء...".
توزعت فصول الرواية عبر سبعة عناوين هي: 1- عرض العاصمة، 2- سارة، 3- بين شوارع وهران ومسرحها، 4- هنا وهناك، 5- ثانوية باستور، 6- المشهد، 7- رسالة.
