لم يتم الإنتباه إلى الدور الذي لعبه المكسيكي خوسيه خوان تابلادا (1871- 1945) في ريادة الطليعة الشعرية في أمريكا اللاتينية، منبثقاً من الحداثة وتلميذاً لروبين داريّو (1867- 1916) في مرحلته الأولى، خلّف تابلادا عملاً ضخماً في الشعر، النقد الفني، الرواية، في الصحافة ويوميات الرحلات.
أهمية هذه الأعمال كان موضوعاً لدراسات متعددة في بلده الأم، ضمن هذه الأعمال الغزيرة وذات الشأن في نوعيتها الأدبية وفي تعدد المواضيع والأشكال التي تتضمنها لا بد من لفت الإنتباه إلى الحقبة أو المرحلة الطليعية التي تتمثّل في نشر ثلاثة كتب شعرية هي: في يوم... أشعار توليفية (1919)، لي - بو وقصائد أخرى (1920)، وإنا الزهور - شعر تفكيكي (1922).
