جثة امرأة بلباس النوم في منتصف الغرفة تقريباً، تشرب سجاد غرفتها دمائها التي نزفت بغزارة، لدرجة لم يستطع معها أعضاء اللجنة التي تشكلت لفتح غرفتها، أن يقتربوا منها دون الخوض في الدماء. فيما عدا ذلك فكل شيء كان على ما يرام بداخل الغرفة المبنية على شكل حرف T أفنجليزي. لم يلبث الخبر أن انتشر انتشار النار في الهشيم. انفجر سيل من الاتصالات بين الأجنحة الطبية وبين الإسكان وبين مختلف الأقسام والشقق السكنية بالمركز ينقل الخبر ويزيد وينقص في ملابساته.
وساد الهلع والخوف بين الساكنين في سكن العاملين. وظهر في البداية اعتقاد أنها حالة انتحار. وعزا البعض وخاصة الأجانب ذلك إلى انغلاق أوجه الحياة في البلاد وحالة الكآبة التي تصاب بها المرأة الأجنبية في منطقة لا تقيم وزناً لحق المرأة في أن تعيش كإنسان. وعن افتقاد وسائل الترفيه في البلاد في ما عدا التسكع كل خميس أو اثنين، حسب جدول سير الباصات، في مجمع الراشد والشعلة والأسواق الأخرى معتمرات العباءات السوداء وإلا ووجهن بمضايقات مطوعي الهيئة والذين كانوا يجبرونهن على تغطية شعر الرأس وأحياناً الوجه.
