إن العلاقة بين الوعّاظ وبين بناء الشخصية الإزدواجية لدى الإنسان علاقة قديمة، فالشخصية الإزدواجية تزداد أو تنخفض مع زيادة عدد الوعّاظ أو نقصهم في المجتمعات.
والإزدواجيون حينما يلتقون ببعضهم في مجلس من مجالس الوعظ فإنه يبكون ويشهقون ثم يغمى عليهم ويذوبون شوقاً إلى الله تعالى وخشية منه ولا يبالون بعد تلك الموعظة والشهقات والغشية أن يفعلون ما يشاؤون من أكلٍ لمال اليتيم أو ينقصون الكيل والميزان أو يعصون ما يأمر الله تعالى به أو يأتون الفواحش، إن للوعّاظ ضرر بليغ في تكوين الشخصية للفرد خاصة إذا كانوا على غير دراية بما يقولون أو يفعلون.
كما أنهم دائماً يريدون أن يصلحوا أخلاق الناس بالكلام والموعظة والنصيحة المجردة وما دروا أن الأخلاق التي في الإنسان هي نتيجة للظروف النفسية الخاصة به والإجتماعية المحيطة به.
