يسمى أفضل من أن يفهم الإنسان نفسه كي يتمكن من فهم الآخرين والتواصل معهم وعلم النفس الاجتماعي هو أحد فروع علم النفس العام التي تهتم بدراسة الفرد وعلاقته ببيئة والضغوط الاجتماعية والنفسية التي يتعرض لها، وهذا الكتاب يعرض لموضوعات مثيرة تعد بحق من أهم الموضوعات التي تهم الدارس والباحث وضابط الأمن ورجال المخابرات والجيش.
ويقع الكتاب في ثلاثة أبواب الباب الأول يتحدث عن سيكولوجية الحرب الدعائية من حيث طبيعتها ومبادئها، وطرقها كما يدرس سيكولوجية الدعاية والحرب النفسية في الحرب العالمية الأولى والثانية وطرق التصدي لها كما يقدم أمثلة عن العمليات العقلية التي تسهم في الحرب النفسية وعمليات غسل المخ وكيفية تكوين الاتجاهات وتعديلها. أما الباب الثاني فهو يتناول وسائل تعديل السلوك ومبادئ العلاج السلوكي وتحليل السلوك والتدريب على توكيد الذات وطرقه. كما يعالج بالتفصيل أساليب العلاج الشرطي والعلاج عن طريق الترتيب الهرمي لمثيرات الحصر. أما الباب الثالث فهو يدور حول فسيكولوجية السلوك، إذ أن علم النفس الفسيولوجي يتناول كثيراً من الموضوعات ذات الصلة بوظائف الأعضاء وبالأحرى تلك الوظائف التي تؤثر في السلوك الإنساني ويبحث هذا الباب في علم النفس الفسيولوحي ومناهجه، كذلك الجهاز العصبي في الإنسان والغدد.
